Hello, my name is Ryan Lano!
My Experience
I have been an asset in developing guitar lesson programs for Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato (1 year), Rhapsody Music (7 years), United Methodist Church (2 years), Music Mart in Mankato (3 years), Park Street Guitar Lessons in Minnesota Lake (3 years), and now my very own at-home lessons service in South Central Minnesota, USA!
I have been teaching guitar professionally in Mankato, Minnesota since 1999.
I have taught guitar lessons to well over 1,000 students in Minnesota alone since 1997.
I have been enjoying guitar playing since my parents allowed me lessons 20 years ago. I started at age 13 on my dad's acoustic guitar and took three years of private guitar lessons in Winona, Minnesota with excellent teacher Mark Tibor before I got my first electric guitar! I then studied on my own for several years before studying classical guitar under renowned guitarist Jim McGuire of Mankato.
I went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in guitar from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Among my many inspiring music classes and professors were: Music Business (1 year with Dr. Snapp), Private Violin (1 year), Private Instruction in Guitar (3 1/2 years with Jim McGuire), Guitar Trio (3 years), Performance Recital (5 years), Class Instruction in Singing (2 years with Dr. Bomgardner), Men's Chorus (5 years), Class piano (2 years), Music Theory (3 years), Composition (with Dr. Dickau), Ear Training and Dictation (3 years with Dr. Dunscombe), Music Literature and History (2 years with Dr. Lindberg), Music of the Baroque (personally with Dr. Lindberg), and Music of the Nineteenth Century (with Dr. Harry Dunscombe). I've also studied Norwegian language for several years including a five-month study-abroad program at Telemark University in Bo, Norway. There, I studied music, bilingualism, Scandinavian history, communication, and culture. I wrote for a Norwegian magazine while there and earned a minor in Scandinavian Studies.
I have also been a camp counselor for Minnesota State University with Dr. Dunscombe's Youth String Symphony Orchestra for five years.
